ЗІКО - Лідер Інженерії Води / Filtrasorb-300 Chlorine Water Treatment System

Filtrasorb-300 Chlorine Water Treatment System

Filtrasorb 300 belongs to the range of Filtrasorb granular activated carbon.

Filtrasorb 300 is produced by steam activation of bituminous coal. The Filtrasorb 300 granules are formed by agglomeration (sintering) of the finest coal fractions (coal dust), rather than by crushing larger coal particles.

Filtrasorb 300 features high adsorption capacity and a large number of transport pores. This provides the carbon with increased selectivity in removing water microcontaminants such as pesticides, even in the presence of high concentrations of natural organic compounds. Due to its porous structure, the carbon is highly effective in removing humic substances that cause yellowish water coloration, disinfection by-products, and free chlorine. It is recommended for use in residential, commercial, and industrial water treatment applications. Spent carbon can be reactivated for reuse in specialized furnaces at temperatures of up to 800 °C.

The media serves as the core filtration material for Ecosoft FPA filters, which are designed for the effective removal of high-molecular organic and organochlorine compounds, as well as chlorine odor.

Key Characteristics of Filtrasorb-300 Filter Media in Chlorine Water Treatment Systems

Transport pores between the agglomerated particles within each granule allow activation gases to penetrate much deeper into the structure of the activated carbon. As a result, the entire granule is activated, not only its outer surface. This provides the carbon with excellent adsorption properties.

In combination with the high mechanical strength of the carbon base, such transport pores allow efficient regeneration of the carbon.

The agglomerated structure ensures rapid wetting.

The agglomeration technology of powdered carbon fractions makes it possible to produce granules with a more uniform particle size distribution, ensuring high efficiency of water filtration.

Within the filter bed, carbon particles are distributed as follows: larger particles settle at the bottom, while smaller particles rise to the top. This distribution is maintained even after repeated backwashing; therefore, the adsorption front remains unchanged, which contributes to an extended service life of the carbon.

Filtrasorb 300 is certified by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine for drinking water treatment.

Filtrasorb 300 is manufactured by the world-renowned company Chemviron, the largest supplier of granular activated carbon to the water industry and a pioneer in the development of its use in Europe. The Calgon Carbon Group, including Chemviron in Europe, is a leading global supplier of activated carbon for the drinking water industry.

How the Chlorine Water Treatment System Operates

The system consists of a column made of corrosion-resistant plastic, equipped with an automatic control valve manufactured by Clack Corp. (USA).

The system is connected to the cold water supply. After passing preliminary mechanical filtration, water enters the filter, where chlorine and organochlorine compounds are removed. The treated water is then delivered through the central riser tube of the vessel to its point of use.

Regeneration of the Chlorine Water Treatment System

When the media capacity is exhausted, the filter automatically switches to regeneration, but only during periods of minimal water demand, ensuring continuous access to clean water for the consumer. During regeneration, impurities are washed out of the carbon bed by a reverse water flow at high velocity and discharged into the sewer system. Immediately after completion of this process, the system is ready for further operation. Backwashing is performed using untreated inlet water.
