The Polish brand Spomasz Zamość S.A. has extensive experience in manufacturing high-quality chains dating back to 1950. Over the decades, the plant has significantly improved its production technologies and today supplies chains that are high-strength, durable, and reliable.

Drive Chains

Drive chains are used to transmit mechanical power in chain drives from the driving shaft to the driven shaft. By design, they are classified into roller chains (the most common type), toothed chains, and bush chains. They are suitable for operation at high speeds — up to 40 m/s — and at temperatures of up to +300 °C. Chains manufactured from heat-resistant steel can operate at temperatures of up to 800 °C.

The roller chain was first developed in England in 1880. Today, it is a high-technology mechanical component with enhanced strength and high operational performance. Roller chains are capable of withstanding significant loads, which makes them suitable for operation in contact with aggressive media and under severe duty conditions.

Classification of Roller Drive Chains by Number of Strands

Roller drive chains are classified according to the number of rows (strands):

• single-strand;
• double-strand;
• triple-strand;
• multi-strand.

Load-carrying capacity increases with the number of strands: the more rows a chain has, the higher the permissible load. Multi-strand chains allow a reduction of transmission dimensions in the plane perpendicular to the shaft axes.

Bush Drive Chains

Bush drive chains are mainly used at reduced operating speeds in environments with continuous accumulation of dust, dirt, and moisture. This type of chain has a larger joint surface area compared to roller chains. Such a design feature is achieved by increasing the diameter of the bush and pin while maintaining the overall chain dimensions.

Heavy-Duty and Precision Roller Chains

We also offer high-strength, high-precision roller chains. These products are subject to stricter requirements in terms of quality and durability. They are widely used in power transmissions of mechanisms and machines operating under heavy loads.

Conveyor Chains

Conveyor chains consist of a sequence of interconnected chain links assembled according to the bush-pin principle. In this respect, conveyor chains are structurally similar to transmission chains, while being adapted for continuous material handling applications.

Conveyor chains are used in the following industries:

• food industry;

• steel production;
• mining;
• woodworking and forestry;
• agriculture;
• metallurgical industry.

Conveyor chains are divided into two main groups: chains with running rollers and sliding chains. They offer high tensile strength and an extended service life, making them suitable for various conveyor types — vertical, horizontal, inclined, and combined systems. We also supply special traction chains for complex engineering solutions, selected according to required dimensions and application.

Chains with Attachments (Special Chains)

These are structurally modified roller-type chains. Their primary purpose is use in conveyors and transport systems. Chains with additional attachments — such as lamellas or lugs — can be mounted on one or both sides, with spacing customized to operational requirements.

Chains with attachments are most commonly used in the food industry, particularly when manufactured from stainless steel. We offer a full range of standard sizes, as well as custom manufacturing based on customer drawings or existing chain samples.
