How to Choose an Industrial Submersible Pump

Industrial submersible deep-well pumps are designed to supply water to water supply systems at a specified pressure. Compared to domestic models, this type of equipment is capable of pumping water from greater depths while delivering high capacity. These performance characteristics are ensured by powerful three-phase electric motors and multistage pump designs.

Operating Principle of an Industrial Submersible Pump

For utility and industrial applications, centrifugal submersible pumps are most commonly used, as they are capable of pumping large volumes of water at high pressure.

The operating principle of these units is based on creating a pressure differential inside the pump casing. The casing contains impellers with blades curved relative to the radial direction, which are driven by electric motors and generate different pressure levels. The higher the rotational speed of the impellers, the greater the volume of liquid pumped by the submersible pump. The greater the number of impellers, the higher the pressure of the working fluid.

Selection of a Submersible Pump

When selecting an industrial submersible pump, attention should be paid not only to its price but also to its operating characteristics:

  • Capacity — the volume of liquid pumped over a specific period of time.
  • Casing diameter. For example, a submersible pump with a 4-inch casing diameter is suitable for installation in a pipe with a diameter of 120 mm. A 6-inch unit fits a pipe with a diameter of 160 mm, while an 8-inch pump is designed for a pipe with a diameter of 220 mm.
  • Head (lifting height) — the maximum height to which the pump can raise a column of water.

Cost of an Industrial Submersible Pump

The price of an industrial submersible pump depends on several factors:

  • power and type of the drive unit;
  • quality of components;
  • resistance of the casing to mechanical damage and contamination;
  • pump capacity.

ZIKO offers a wide range of industrial submersible pumps of various types and sizes at competitive prices. The company also designs, develops, delivers, and installs equipment and turnkey solutions for water treatment across Ukraine.
