The casing contains impellers with blades curved relative to the radial direction, which are driven by electric motors and generate different pressure levels. The higher the rotational speed of the impellers, the greater the volume of liquid pumped by the submersible pump. The greater the number of impellers, the higher the pressure of the working fluid.

- Capacity — the volume of liquid pumped over a specific period of time.
- Casing diameter. For example, a submersible pump with a 4-inch casing diameter is suitable for installation in a pipe with a diameter of 120 mm. A 6-inch unit fits a pipe with a diameter of 160 mm, while an 8-inch pump is designed for a pipe with a diameter of 220 mm.
- Head (lifting height) — the maximum height to which the pump can raise a column of water.
