Industrial Wastewater
Depending on the type of manufactured products and technological processes, industrial wastewater can be divided into two main categories:
- Low-contaminated wastewater. Such water is most often used as a cooling medium.
- Contaminated wastewater — containing mechanical, organic (biological), or mineral (chemical) pollutants.

Accordingly, industrial wastewater may be low-concentration or high-concentration.
When discharged into soil or water bodies, such contaminated effluent causes irreparable damage to the environment, as well as to human and animal health. Therefore, high-quality industrial wastewater treatment is required to reduce the concentration of harmful contaminants to safe levels.

For treatment of low-concentration wastewater, proprietary ZIKO treatment units are used. The integrated ZIKO industrial wastewater treatment system reduces the concentration of a wide range of contaminants in water to permissible levels, including:
- suspended solids and ammonium nitrogen;

Technological Scheme of Wastewater Treatment

The ZIKO integrated industrial wastewater treatment system consists of several functional units that ensure maximum purification of the effluent:
- Denitrification unit — simultaneous oxidation of organic substances by oxygen, reduction of nitrogen compounds, and release of nitrogen into the atmosphere.
- Aerobic bioreactor — artificial biological treatment of industrial wastewater using aeration and activated sludge.
- Aeration unit — maintenance of vital activity of activated sludge microorganisms.
- Air blower — supply of air at the pressure required for efficient system operation.
- Secondary clarifier — additional treatment and clarification of wastewater.
- Ozonator — disinfection of treated water using ozone.
- Dehydrator — dewatering and disposal of sludge.
The technology used for treatment of industrial wastewater has been developed in accordance with Technical Specifications TU U 42.2-38674771-008:201 and complies with all applicable national sanitary and hygienic standards.
