The engineering company ZIKO offers integrated “RAIN” systems for stormwater runoff treatment to enterprises in the housing and utilities sector. The company also supplies, at competitive prices and with delivery across Ukraine, water filters, reverse osmosis systems, and other equipment for water preparation and water treatment.
Characteristics of Snowmelt and Rainwater Runoff
Depending on the degree of contamination, stormwater runoff is classified into four types:
- Conditionally clean runoff — wastewater from park areas and territories without anthropogenic impact.
- Surface runoff from areas with minimal anthropogenic impact (residential districts, parking areas, filling stations, etc.).
- Untreated stormwater runoff from industrial sites.
- Snowmelt and rainwater runoff from areas exposed to toxic contamination.
Ukrainian legislation establishes specific requirements for the quality of treated stormwater runoff. Therefore, all water discharged into soil or water bodies after rainfall or snowmelt must comply with defined regulatory standards.
Integrated Treatment of Storm Sewer Runoff
After snowmelt, rainfall, washing, or irrigation, water becomes a source of contamination for groundwater and surface water bodies. RAIN integrated systems provide effective treatment of stormwater runoff by removing a wide range of pollutants, including:
- heavy metal salts;
- synthetic surfactants;
- nitrogen compounds;
- petroleum products and suspended solids.
After treatment, stormwater runoff meets all applicable quality requirements.
Stormwater Treatment Scheme Using the “RAIN” System
The treatment process includes the following stages:
- Mechanical treatment — removal of petroleum products, clay, sand, and debris from the water.
- Storage tank — accumulation and equalization of runoff after rainfall or snowmelt.
- Additional treatment (clarification) — special clarifier design enables separation of treated water and activated sludge.
- Disinfection — allows treated stormwater to be discharged into soil or water bodies.
- Sludge dewatering — removal of up to 80% of moisture from the sludge.
- Biological treatment — reduction of phosphorus, nitrogen compounds, petroleum products, and dissolved organic substances to minimum permissible levels.
- Physicochemical treatment — to improve pollutant separation, the system is equipped with reagent mixing and dosing units.

In accordance with national regulatory requirements, the RAIN integrated system is manufactured using metal, precast reinforced concrete, polypropylene, and cast-in-place reinforced concrete.
Integrated Water Treatment Solutions from ZIKO
ZIKO chemists are ready to visit the customer’s site to collect wastewater samples for analysis. Based on the analytical results, the company’s engineers and designers develop integrated water treatment solutions tailored to specific operating conditions.
The experience and high qualification of ZIKO chemists, engineers, and installation specialists enable the company to provide a full range of services, including:
- design and development of integrated stormwater treatment systems in accordance with customer requirements and technological process conditions;
- supply, installation, commissioning, and start-up of water treatment equipment at customer sites throughout Ukraine;
- warranty and post-warranty service, maintenance, and repair of water treatment equipment.
Consultations regarding pricing, technical characteristics, and application of equipment are provided by company managers via the website feedback form. Orders for integrated stormwater treatment systems and cooperation proposals are accepted via the phone numbers and email addresses listed in the “Contacts” section.
