Nucleic acids — RNA and DNA — are responsible for the normal functioning and reproduction of microbial cells. During industrial ultraviolet water treatment, these cells absorb UV radiation, which leads to the loss of their ability to reproduce and ultimately results in microorganism sterilization.

• during operation, industrial water filters require regular cleaning of UV lamps from scale and sediment;
• if disinfection technology is violated or if water is transported through worn pipelines, recontamination with bacteria may occur.

It should also be taken into account that industrial ultraviolet water filters do not remove chemical substances, lead, asbestos, protein fragments of microorganisms, or fungal cell walls from water.
